If you take the Tom Petty and The Heartbreaker’s single “Don’t Do Me Like That” you’ll find a B Side that wasn’t on the album.
That song is “Casa Dega”.
The song is written somewhat about Cassadaga a small town near where Tom grew up in Florida.
Cassadaga is a Spiritualist Camp originally settled in the 1800’s.
Petty said of the song and place “There are all kinds of psychics and fortune tellers. It’s this really small place. And I wrote that by putting myself in the mind of someone who went to Cassadaga. Though I spelled it wrong. … Poetic license, I guess.”
Cassadaga is also home to “The Devil’s Chair”, which involves legends of demonic conversations and beer drinking.
So watch a video below of Tom and the band performing “Casa Dega” and below that see a video about “The Devil’s Chair” in Cassadaga.
