Steven Van Zandt is a renaissance man in Rock N’ Roll.

Before taking the name Little Steven he was Miami Steve as part of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and as part of Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes.

I can still remember buying Little Steven’s first album “Men Without Women” when it was first released in 1982.

It is not often that I listen to an album and describe it as perfect.

“Men Without Women” is one such album.

After that album Steven continued to release music but most of it with a political bent.

But then nearly 20 years went by without any new music from Little Steven.

During that time he has written and produced music for other artists, starred in TV shows The Sopranos and Lillyhammer, wrote television scores and so much more.

Earlier this year Steven returned to making music and he released “Soul Fire’.

The album contains music he wrote and produced for other artists, some songs he wrote just for the album and a couple covers.

Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul are currently out on the road and will be playing The Paramount in Huntington on October 4th.

Listen to Steven talk to me about what to expect at the show and so much more below.

We also discussed a little bit of politics. Knowing that not everybody wants to hear political talk, that part of the conversation is separate here so you can choose to listen or not.
